Utagawa Kuniyoshi Samurai – Japanese Ukiyo-e Warrior Skateboard Wall Art
Utagawa Kuniyoshi was one of the last great masters of the ukiyo-e woodblock print tradition, active in Edo (now Tokyo) from the 1810s to the 1860s. He specialised in warrior prints (musha-e) depicting samurai, legendary heroes, and figures from Japanese history and mythology. His prints were technically daring — wide compositions, dramatic foreshortening, dynamic poses — and hugely popular. The Tokugawa shogunate censored him twice for political subversion embedded in his imagery.
