This skateboard deck is part of Danilo Cunha’s photographic series created from an experiment with cinematography, light, and visual direction.

Shot on expired film, the images preserve the natural noise, grain, flaws, and unexpected accidents of the analog process. Instead of correcting or removing these marks, the artist keeps them as part of the final work — turning imperfection into texture, atmosphere, and visual memory.

The series carries the feeling of a physical photograph: imperfect, raw, and slightly faded, almost like a lost frame from a film roll. One of the works is based on a mirror reflection, where the subject looks at herself while also facing the camera through the reflected image.

Now printed on skateboard decks in Berlin, these photographs become more than graphics or decoration. They become photographic objects — images transferred onto wood.

Artist Statement

“These images were born from a photo essay about cinematography and light.

I photographed my niece using expired film and decided to keep all the noise, flaws, and accidents of the process.

The third deck is a mirror reflection. She looks at herself while looking at the camera through the reflection.

I like the idea of an image that feels like a physical memory, almost like a lost frame.

These photographs have now become skateboard decks in Berlin.
