Lawrence Alma-Tadema The Roses of Heliogabalus Skateboard Deck Diptych Wall Art – Classical Painting Art Decks
Lawrence Alma-Tadema painted The Roses of Heliogabalus in 1888. The painting depicts a real event described by the Historia Augusta: the Roman emperor Heliogabalus smothered his dinner guests under a cascade of rose petals released from the ceiling. Alma-Tadema had fresh roses shipped from the Riviera every week for four months during winter to paint this. The painting was shown at the Royal Academy in London and is now in a private collection.
