Mechanical Gauntlet Holding a Rose places two opposing symbols in direct contact: armour — protection, force, the machine — and a rose — fragility, beauty, the organic. The image draws on the visual language of Medieval heraldry (where gauntlets appeared on coats of arms) and Romantic poetry (where the rose was the central symbol of love). The contrast works because neither element is metaphorical — they are simply two real things, touching.
