Blueprint Candle -- a candle rendered in the visual language of technical blueprints: precise linework in white on blue, the object redrawn as if it were to be manufactured rather than merely depicted. Blueprint aesthetics originate in the cyanotype printing process used by architects and engineers from the 1840s onward to reproduce technical drawings. The familiar domestic object redrawn in the language of engineering becomes something to look at rather than use. Printed in gallery-quality UV ink on Grade-A Canadian maple.
